Just when one might expect anti-war demonstrators, they are nowhere to be seen.

Extinction Rebellion cries out against climatic Armageddon, but Russia threatens nuclear Armageddon in the 2022 Russo-Ukrainian war, and who can say where the 2023 Gaza-Israeli war will lead?

Rather, major cities in the UK and overseas have witnessed Palestinian celebrations at the murderous incursions from Hamas-controlled Gaza into Israel on Saturday 7th October 2023. More Jews were murdered in one day than on any day since the Holocaust.

Just Stop Oil protests against the continued use of oil and fossil fuels, which are running out at an alarming rate, but the dangers of international nuclear conflict are much greater and much closer. Where are the anti-war demonstrators?

Where is CND, the campaign for nuclear disarmament? Or the Stop the War Coalition? The uselessness of demonstrating in the West is now apparent and US communists are also silent. What about demonstrating in Russia and Gaza? It is evident that this is as ineffective as protests in the West.

The latest iteration of public demonstrations is No2Nato No2War, but it has experienced having the venues of its meetings cancelled, rather like Nigel Farage has experienced for his meetings. So whether it is political left or right, cancel culture prevails.

Secularism has failed to stop war

The real campaign to stop wars must come from Christians teaching peace between man and man. This means that Christians must involve themselves in the political arena.

At the political level, it is often said that people deserve the leaders that they elect. Gazans elected Hamas in 2006. Who is calling for elections in Gaza? When will there be elections in Gaza? When will the long-overdue elections occur in the Palestinian Authority? It is time to free Gaza and Gazans from Hamas. It seems that it will not be by elections. How else? By force?

This afternoon the world learned that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his “emergency unity Government” and that Israel is at war with Hamas and intends to eliminate its military capabilities from being a threat to Israel’s security.

It is time for a Christian solution to this interminable religious and ethnic conflict between muslim and Jew. It is time for the Christian Gospel to be proclaimed to one and all; demonstrations are ineffective and worldly politicians have failed to bring peace to international affairs.

It is time to call in the help of the Prince of Peace Isa 9:6, the Lord Jesus Christ.

When will politicians seek His help? Secularism has failed. It is not “political bargaining” that is needed but the exposure of the false doctrine behind and supporting worldly politics. We do not need more of the same but the world is in desperate need of the love and peace of the Christian Gospel. When will national leaders listen?
