False Christianity

Jesus warns us against false Christs Mat 24:24 and each of the apostles did the same. So, how do false Christs operate?

First, they use Christian terminology. Counterfeits always imitate the real thing. Are you able to detect counterfeit Christs, counterfeit Christianity?

Secondly, they use Christian terms in a different way than the Bible does, twisting their meaning 2Pe 3:16. An easy example is “saints”, which the Bible uses for the godly here on Earth, but Roman Catholicism and other claimants on Christianity confine “saints” to particular people in heaven whom the Roman Catholic pope in Rome has decided to nominate as Roman Catholic saints. Other groups have their own saints, but the point is that this is not the biblical meaning nor usage of this word.

Similarly, supporters of false Christianity speak about Jesus, love, forgiveness, etc. After all, this is what the Gospel of Jesus Christ is about. Of course false Christianity will use these terms. However, how do they use these terms? Can you detect their abuse? If not, you need to study the Bible better. This is why you need to be “a Bible Christian”. Jacob Rees-Mogg says that he is not a biblical Christian but a church Christian. You, my reader, need to be better than this Mat 5:20. You need to learn from Jesus, and the Bible is your only reliable source for learning about Him, His teaching, and following Him to heaven.

Relevance

To be able to distinguish false Christianity is relevant at any time but especially when there are so many preachers currently preaching non-biblical Christs, what Jesus calls false Christs.

The need to recover Christian culture for UK has become obvious even to people like Richard Dawkins who is afraid of aggressive muslims. GB News is trying to recover Christian culture for Britain, but in the absence of a lead from the Church of England, whose Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby had to resign following criticism of his leadership, Roman Catholicism is trying to fill the gap. Even King Charles III’s christmas message today had more of a flavour of Christianity than usual, although it was mixed with a multifaith message.

Another common mistake is to think that the social Gospel is the Gospel itself, mixing up social justice for the Christian Gospel.

In this attempt to recover Christian culture for Britain, we need to ensure that it is true Christianity and not false Christianity that is promoted. This makes it even more relevant to distinguish true from counterfeit Christianity.

25 Dec 2024: I have linked to the CBC youtube because it gives the whole royal broadcast from the beginning. Even The Royal Family official YouTube channel missed out the beginning of the broadcast; since when has the Royal standard slipped?

6 Jan 2024: “there needs to be a clear out at the top” [at 21:44 hrs] of the Church of England as the current bishops are not fit for purpose. Charles Moore suggests that the next Archbishop of Canterbury may come from the bishops of the worldwide Anglican communion [at 20:51 hrs] rather than from the Church of England.

7 Feb 2024: the Church of England is so unsure of itself that it is inviting the public to submit nominations for the next Archbishop of Canterbury.

25 Mar 2025: another not-so-Freudian slip from Jacob Rees-Mogg – he wants to “Make France Great Again” by going back to its Roman Catholic roots [at 19:53 hrs], when the king of France was the most Christian king, as the loyal daughter of Rome.

31 Mar 2025: yet again Jacob Rees-Mogg shows his preference for the Roman Catholic magisterium (teaching) ahead of the Bible [at 20:41 hrs], noted earlier here.

9 Oct 2025: yet again Jacob Rees-Mogg used his GB News programme to propagandize his Roman Catholicism [20’50], by informing the viewers that today is the feast of John Henry Newman.

Thanks Laurence for the opportunity to address this common issue.

Yes, stories usually change with the retelling of them. This is the significance of 1. the divine inspiration 2Tim 3:16 and divine preservation Ps 12:6-7 of the biblical text. 2. why all Christian teaching should arise directly from the Bible and commend itself to every man’s conscience 2Cor 4:2. The Bible has been reliably transmitted through the generations.

“could christianity have been so affected….” Yes, indeed. Jesus and His apostles warned about the corrupting of His message. The Bible itself tells us about it.

The Jews were meticulous in preserving the biblical Hebrew text of the Old Testament and the Greek New Testament has thousands of copied manuscripts testifying to a consistent text.
