So the Rugby World Cup 2015 has begun, with an England victory 35-11 over Fiji in the opening match.
There was controversy over a disallowed try. Matawalu the Fiji scrum half made a spectacular break and made a solo run to be given a try in the corner by the referee.
However the television replay showed that Matawalu dropped the ball before touchdown, and the referee disallowed the try.
However, in my view it was a try because the ball did not go forward but downward, and Matawalu regained control and grounded the ball properly over the line without any second movement.
None of the commentators discussed this, so possibly someone can explain what was wrong with it.
